Building Forum
The Building forums have progressed year on year to give a good cross section of interest to those attending. Some sessions have been led by members and others by visiting speakers’
BUILDERS FORUM WINTER 2026
The Forum meets on the last Monday of each month at the Deben Water Sports Centre from 10:00 am to approx. 12 noon. ALL MEMBERS WELCOME.
Each session will consist of a discussion, design or testing segment with a tea/coffee break. After the break there will be an opportunity for members to display/discuss their current build projects to help other members and also seek help.
SEPTEMBER - Monday 28th
Review of the very successful WMBC Schools Project from the Team who delivered it. Then:
Winter Project proposed by Geoff Lambert - DESIGN AND BUILD AN OUTBOARD MOTOR FOR A MODEL BOAT “The availability of outboards for modellers is limited and very expensive.”
The suggestion is that the builders forum could suggest various technical solutions and then design and build some testable prototypes by Christmas 2026. A wide discussion is envisaged.
After Tea break - ‘Show and Tell’ of members current projects.
OCTOBER - Monday 26th
DESIGN AND BUILD AN OUTBOARD MOTOR FOR A MODEL BOAT - This will hopefully discuss our Forums members initial design/engineering ideas and look at a way forward to building testable versions for our final 2026 meeting in November.
After Tea break - ‘Show and Tell’ of members current projects.
NOVEMBER - Monday 30th
DESIGN AND BUILD AN OUTBOARD MOTOR FOR A MODEL BOAT - This will be when we test our creations on the pond and determine what works and what doesn’t.
After Tea break and ‘Show and Tell’ it is proposed we look at how the WMBC Schools Project can be rolled out in 2027 with the aid of a ‘build video’ created by Builders Forum members. This will help remote schools build our project.
